Ten Plagues of Typorama
Every year, the YCPGD's Typography II class does a project called Typorama in which we could make whatever we want as long as it revolves around type. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, classes were forced to be held virtually. Thus, Typorama was forced to go online. 10 Plagues of Typorama is an experimental animated series using strictly typographic forms to make imagery that is concerning personal and societal impacts of the COVID-19 in the context of the 10 Plagues of Egypt from the Book of Exodus. The COVID-19 pandemic has ravaged peoples’ lives of the United States, and the United States has the most amount of cases and deaths than anywhere else in the world. The pandemic has impacted Typorama in which we could not make typography in any medium that we wanted, and instead we had to go digital. In other words, COVID-19 killed Typorama, just as it’s killing millions of people internationally.
